The Deacons’ Court have decided on a refurbishment of the church wing. This will involve the removal of the pews and replacing them with chairs. The area will be carpeted and the walls have already been painted and new blinds fitted. The overall cost will be in the region of £10,000. The decision to undertake this work was stimulated by the more regular use of the wing post Covid and comments received regarding the uncomfortable seating and the need that there was to upgrade the dated decor. While the court continue to maintain a steady program of property maintenance of both manse and church, without any additional call on the congregations finances we find that recent expenditure has depleted reserves. The court understanding the pressure that many are under with the current cost of living crisis, are inviting financial support for this project which is entirely voluntary and should not impact on your regular commitment. Should you wish to contribute please make your donation in an envelop marked accordingly.

Healthy Church Gathering ; Join us at the Healthy Church Gathering at Stornoway Free Church on Friday 21st April. This is a free event being organised for congregations in the Presbytery of the Western Isles Free Church of Scotland as we look to encourage one another and share in the vision for a Healthy Gospel Church for every community in Scotland. The hope is to bring as many people in your congregation as possible for a time of input and discussion with a focus on us hearing the views and ideas of one another. There will be updates on how some churches have taken hold of the vision as well as time to discuss some main topics, give feedback and ask questions. There will be refreshments from 6.30 and the gathering will start formally at 7.00 with 2 main sections and will conclude at 9.30. We are asking people to sign up to give an idea of numbers. to book go to- freechurch.org/healthy-church-gatherings .
